Welcome to Pilgrim Place

Three Pilgrims
Welcome to our blog for pilgrims and peace. We begin by asking you to share your thoughts as YOU crossed the Ohio River by candlelight with other pilgrims tracing the path of runaway slaves on their journey to freedom. [Interfaith Paths to Peace Pilgrimage: Crossing Barriers October 2008].

Much Thanks to Terry, Joe, Anita, Mary, Cindy and all the other people I don't know about who took the time and developed the concern to make this pilgrimage happen so flawlessly. Extended thanks also to all our hosts and sponsors who fed and sheltered us.
Someone who knows one of us, or is related to one of us, or has heard about one of us, or is one of us, will one day take part in the great world wide pilgrimage that will create a united humanity living peacefully on this Earth. There will be much walking and crossing of barriers.
Sam.

And may I add that Sam himself is one of the people who needs to be profusely thanked.

Thank you Sam. I was uneasy Saturday night as we walked in the dark at the edge of the road but every time I looked up you were watching out for us. I felt safe. And thanks to you, Terry, for following us and keeping the cars from running us off the road.

Drew mentioned to me yesterday he'd like to go on a longer pilgrimage. So would I. So let us know, Sam, when you've got the world wide pilgrimage planned. Or we could start with one country...

Thanks to all who made the pilgrimage and/or offered support. It is such an important annual event and contributes to our understanding of issues related to peace and social justice. I as walked the bridge holding my daughter's hand, I forgot the discomforts of advanced pregnancy and was filled with gratitude that I was free to live and roam. I was sad for mothers of the past who did not see their children grow as legally they were the property of someone else. I was struck by the beauty of our city at sunset and the lovely people who walked along with me. All in all it was a powerful experience.
